Business Visa

Business Visa is granted to foreign national who wish to visit India for business and trade purposes and/or the following:

(i) to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up an industrial/business venture, other than Proprietorship Firms and Partnership Firms, in India.

(ii) to purchase/sell industrial products or commercial products or consumer durables.

(iii) for technical meetings/discussions, attending Board meetings or general meetings for providing business services support.

(iv) for recruitment of manpower.

(v) who are partners in the business and/or functioning as Directors of the company.

(vi) for consultations regarding exhibitions or for participation in exhibitions, trade fairs, business fairs etc.

(vii) who come to transact business with suppliers/ potential suppliers at locations in India, to evaluate or monitor quality, give specifications, place orders, negotiate further supplies etc., relating to goods or services procured from India.

(viii) experts/specialists on a visit of short duration in connection with an ongoing project with the objective of monitoring the progress of the work, conducting meetings with Indian customers and/or to provide technical guidance.

(ix) for pre-sales or post-sales activity not amounting to actual execution of any contract or project.

(x) foreign trainees of multinational companies/corporate houses coming for in-house training in the regional hubs of the concerned company located in India.

(xi)  coming as tour conductors and travel agents and / or conducting business tours of foreigners or business relating to it, etc.

(xii) foreign academicians/ experts coming under GIAN (Global Initiative for Academic Networks).

(xiii) crew members of scheduled/ non-scheduled flights operated by scheduled airlines, non-scheduled and chartered flights operated by non-scheduled airlines and special flights. (xiv) Foreign nationals intending to visit India to participate in cultural events/ activities with remuneration. [Such foreign nationals intending to visit India to participate in cultural events/ activities for short duration without remuneration should apply for Entry (X-Misc.) Visa.]

(xv) Foreign nationals who are engaged in commercial sports events in India on contract (including coaches) like Indian Premier League, Indian Soccer League, etc. with remuneration should apply for ‘B-Sports’ Visa with multiple entry facility for appropriate period.  Such applicant, along with visa application, should mandatorily submit documents in support of Indian tax compliance by him/her on his/her previous visits.

Conditions for grant of Business Visa

(i) The foreign national should be a person of assured financial standing (sufficient proof of his/ her financial standing and expertise in the field of intended business will be checked thoroughly while granting the visa).

(ii) The foreign national should not be visiting India for the business of money lending or for running a petty business or petty trade or for full time employment in India, etc.

(iii) The foreign national should not be visiting India for the business of money lending or for running a petty business or petty trade or for full time employment in India, etc.  The foreign national shall comply with all other requirements like payment of tax liabilities etc.

Validity of Business visa:

Business Visa may be granted with 10 years validity with multiple entry facility to the citizens of the Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, United States of America and South Africa.  This visa shall be issued with the stipulation that “continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days. 

Requirements:

  1. Two recent colour passport size (about 51mm x 51mm) photographs in colour showing full frontal face against a white background to be pasted/stapled on the application form.
  2. Current valid passport with minimum of 190 days validity and must have minimum 2 blank pages.

  4. Letter from the applicant's company / organization in Canada indicating the nature of applicant’s business, etc.
  5. Invitation letter from the company in India indicating the nature of applicant's business, etc.
  6. Certificate of Incorporation for both Indian and Canadian companies (Photocopies)
  7. Address proof in Canada: Government issued identities such as Driving License, Utility Bill, Bank Statement.
  8. If the visa applicant is of Indian origin, he/she mandatorily need to provide certificate of surrender/renunciation of his/her last held Indian passport.
  9. Proof of tax compliance if applicant earned income/received payments in his/her previous visit to India.
  10. Foreign academicians/ experts applying under GIAN need to submit 1,2,3,7 and (i) invitation of host Indian institute, (ii) copy of sanction order under GIAN issued by the Indian national coordinating institute and (iii) copy of synopsis of courses to be taken up.
  11. Applicant may be asked by Consulate to submit additional documents.

Note:

  1. Non-Canadian passport holders to apply in the country of their origin. However, if they are Permanent Resident of Canada for more than two years, they have the option to apply in Canada.
  2. Subsequent to visa application submission, applicant may be called for an interview in person in the Consulate General of India, Vancouver irrespective of his/her location of residence.
  3. Consulate reserves the right of rejection of application or shortening validity of visa without assigning any reason and there will be no refund of fee on this count. There shall also not be any refund of fee, either in full, partial, difference of fee on account of Consulate changing the duration of visa granted.
