Consul General Mr. Manish met Hon. George Chow, Minister of State for Trade, BC and Mr. Aman Singh, NDP MLA - Richmond-Queensborough on March 15, 2022. They took the opportunity to discuss the current trade and investment partnership between British Columbia and India and the need to strengthen the economic engagement between the two. Consul General apprised Minister Chow about the upcoming visits of various delegations from India to British Columbia and about the upcoming trade Summits and Conferences in India where trade Missions from BC can possibly participate. Minister Chow was accompanied at the meeting by Mr. William Hoyle, Acting Executive Director, Intl. Trade & Investment Operations, Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery & Innovation. Consul General was accompanied by Mr. Manjish Grover, Consul (Commerce).

During their visit to Calgary, Consul Manjish Grover and Consul Rajinder Kumar held meeting on 17 March, 2022 with Mr. Balkar Singh Sandhu, President and Board Member of Indian Ex-servicemen Immigrant Society, Calgary and seven leaders of other Indian community associations and discussed various issues to enhance collaboration in organizing various outreach events in Alberta region. They also answered the Consular and other queries raised by the members of the associations present in the meeting.

Consulate General of India, Vancouver organized a business Conference entitled REAL ESTATE - INDIA OPPORTUNITY in partnership with Invest India at KPMG Vancouver headquarters on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022. The event was organized as part of Consulate's trade promotion activities and was attended by around 30 guests from a cross-section of people associated with the real estate sector. The list of attendees included CEOs and senior representatives of real estate development companies, venture capitalists, investors, consultants and legal counsels in real estate. Consul General of India in Vancouver Mr. Manish in his opening remarks, welcomed the participants and gave an overview of the India-Canada economic corridor, investment opportunities, the fast pace of economic reforms and ease of doing business in India. The Invest India team participated virtually from New Delhi and was led by Ms. Shruti Chandra, Senior Assistant Vice President and Head, Canada Desk, Mr. Rajat Yadav, Sr. Investment Specialist, Canada Desk, Mr. Pratyush Kumar, Sr. Investment Specialist and Mr. Sahil Garg, Investment Specialist at the Construction & Real Estate team Invest India. The latter gave a detailed presentation on Investment Opportunities in Real Estate sector in India. They explained inter alia the reasons for expected growth of the market in commercial, industrial, residential and retail segments of real estate in India which presents a USD 1 trillion opportunity by 2030. The Invest India team also answered queries posed by the attendees. The event was wrapped up by Mr. Sukesh Kumar, Partner & India Lead at KPMG LLP who explained why more and more Canadian companies and businesses are looking to invest in India.

Pleased to see good participation & interest on both sides at The Brand India Virtual Tour with Alberta webinar on 24 March, 2022 hosted by Consulate General of India, Vancouver, in partnership with Indo-Canadian Business Chamber and Calgary Economic Development. The webinar focused on business opportunities between India & AB in tech startups, IT business, JVs, pharmaceuticals, food (rice), marine products etc. Alberta offers great opportunities for Indian businesses as it is a progressive Province with a very promising technology ecosystem. Mr. Manish, Consul General in his address highlighted bilateral trade and exports overview between India and Canada. Ms. Megan Zimmerman, Director – Business Development, Calgary Economic Development gave an overview on key sectors, opportunities in Calgary; Ms. Jennifer Lussier, Director (Growth), Platform Calgary highlighted the Start-ups support & start-up visa program; Ms. Aastha Sharma, Investment Specialist – Canada Desk, Invest India gave overview on ease of doing business in India and key sectors of investment in India.
