Consul General Manish attended Annual Gala and Glitz organised by Mr. Mahindra Shah,
President of Gujarati Society of British Columbia (CCBC)

Consul General Manish was invited by Mr. Mahindra Shah, President of Gujarati Society of British Columbia (CCBC), at their Annual Gala and Glitz event organized in Vancouver on December 11, 2021. The event saw participation of Hon Raj Chauhan, Speaker of BC Legislative Assembly and Ms. Rachna Singh, MLA, and diaspora members. Consul General spoke on the role of Indian diaspora in Canada and praised the positive contribution of Gujarati community in Canada and BC. CG called upon the members of GCBC to partner with Consulate to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the occasion of 75th anniversary of India’s Independence. As per one statistics, there are about 300,000 members of Gujarati community in Canada and have made substantial contribution to so Io-economic development of Canada.

Consul General Manish held a meeting with Founder Chairman & Director Vijay Gupta and Ex-Chairman & Director Deepak Arora of British Columbia Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Vancouver on December 14, 2021 and discussed matters relating to bilateral corporate taxation and promotion of mobility of taxation professionals and accountants between India and Canada.

Consul General Manish handed over the ‘Recognition Certificate’ to Secretary General Jobu Mathew of Kerala Association of British Columbia. This Recognition Certificate presented by High commissioner of India to Canada Ajay Bisaria to Kerala Association of British Columbia for exemplary service to the Indian community in Canada and for promoting the cause of India-Canada friendship.

 


Consul General Manish along with officers organised end of the year get together with friends in media (December 15, 2021)

Consul General Mr. Manish along with other officers at the Consulate were pleased to receive and welcome friends in the media for an end-of-the-year get-together at the Consulate on 15th December, 2021. In his brief address, Consul General also gave them an overview of the Consulate's activities during this year. He highlighted the streamlining of Consular services and the fact that Consulate's officers and staff worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to deliver passport, visa and other related services without disruption. Consul General also mentioned the celebration of the India@75 events under the rubric Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (#AKAM) and how the Consulate is partnering with local Indo-Canadian Associations in this regard. He also gave details of the economic opportunity that India now presents for trade and investments and how Canadian provinces should enhance their cooperation with India to strengthen and take advantage of a growing India-Canada economic corridor. The event was organized to appreciate the support that local media has always shown to the Consulate.

World's largest tea-producing region - Assam

Highest recoverable reserves of crude oil and natural gas in India Assam Gas Cracker Project, North-East India's largest petrochemical project is being implemented by Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL). Assam, with a geographical area of 7.8 mn ha, shares its border with all North-Eastern states in India and internationally with Bangladesh and Bhutan. Six airports, two inland waterways and one inland container depot connect Assam with major cities of the country and with nearby international cities. India ranks Asia's fourth most powerful country in latest ranking

India is ranked the fourth most powerful country in Asia. The latest ranking was released by the Lowy Institute Asia Power Index 2021. The annual Asia Power Index was launched by the Lowy Institute in 2018. The rankings are measured on the basis of resources and influence to rank the relative power of states in Asia. The project maps out the existing distribution of power as it stands today, and tracks shifts in the balance of power over time.

India to supply 20% more power to Bangladesh

India will supply 20 percent more power to Bangladesh as the two countries renewed the contract for another five years, officials said on Sunday. Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) will supply 192 MW power to Bangladesh, an increase from the earlier 160 MW it supplied, as per the renewed agreement.
