Kranti Diwas – Quit India Movement
(August 9, 2021)

Srijani Global in partnership with Consulate General of India, Vancouver organized “Kranti Diwas – Quit India Movement” as part of celebration of #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav on 9th August 2021. Consul General Mr. Manish, Maj. Gen (Retd.) G.D. Bakshi, Ms. Prachi Chaturvedi Randhawa, Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Poet and Writer, Mr. Apurav Bikram Shah, Poet & Writer participated in the event. The event began with the singing of poem titled ‘Karo Yan Maro’ by Dr. Shipra Shilpi followed by screening of short documentary “Story of Quit India Movement – 1942” presented by Film Division. Consul General in his speech welcomed Gen Maj. G.D. Bakshi and other panel speakers and thanked Srijani Global for partnering with the Consulate to celebrate 79th anniversary of Quit India Movement as part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Consul General highlighted the role of Mahatma Gandhiji in the Quit India movement and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and common people during India’s Independence struggle and making India an independent nation. Maj. Gen. G.D. Bakshi in his speech thanked Srijani Global and the Consulate General for organizing the event. He gave brief overview of the freedom struggle on two fronts led by two leaders – one led by Mahatma Gandhiji and second led by Subhash Chandra Bose as well as the sacrifices made by the other freedom fighters. Mr. Pankaj Sharma elaborated on the ‘Jan Andolan’, described the feeling of soldier and sung patriotic poems. Mr. Apurav Bikram Shah also sung patriotic poems.
