400th Prakash Parb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (May 1, 2021)

The Consulate General of India, Vancouver, in partnership with the Team Srijani Vancouver, commemorated the 400th Prakash Parb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji on 1st May 2021. Consul General Mr. Manish extended his greetings on the occasion of 400th Prakash Parb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and highlighted his divine teachings, sacrifice and service for the good of others. Team Sirjani and other invited guests sang Sakhis, Poems and stories related to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The event was organized as part of #IndiaAt75 - #AzadiKaAmritmahotsav

Consular Corps Meeting, BC (May 3, 2021) 

During her address to the Consular Corps virtual meeting on May 3, 2021, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Ms. Janet Austin, expressed her support and solidarity with the Government and people of India in their fight against Covid pandemic.

Virtual Meeting with Wipro, Canada (May 6, 2021) 

Consul General Mr. Manish had a virtual introductory meeting on 6th May, 2021 with Mr. Amit Majithia, Vice President and Country Head, Wipro Canada & Mr. Chandra Sekharan, Regional Director. Mr. Majithia gave an overview of Wipro Canada's operations, its expansion plans into Western Canada including in BC and how the Company is contributing to growth of IT jobs in Canada, which in turn will help the post pandemic economic recovery in British Columbia and other provinces where the company plans to expand. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Manjish Grover, Consul (Commerce).

Meeting with Indian Diaspora, Albert (May 6, 2021) 

Consul General Mr. Manish held a virtual meeting on 6 May, 2021 with Mr. Francis Aranha, representative of Indian Diaspora Associations in Calgary, Alberta and 11 other leaders of different Indian Community Associations in Alberta. Consul General briefed them on the present COVID-19 situation in India and steps being taken by Government of India to deal with the situation. Community organizations expressed solidarity with India and offered to contribute to GoI’s effort. On the query from the community organizations, CG also explained the process of sending assistance to India and type of assistance required. CG also apprised them of the new changes in the Consular Services and also answered to their various queries. The discussion also focused on partnering with community association on celebrating #IndiaAt75 to commemorate #AzadiKaAmritMahatosav in Alberta Province.

Meeting with SBOT (May 7, 2021)

Consul General Mr. Manish held a virtual meeting on 7 May 2021 with Ms. Anita Huberman, President, Surrey Board of Trade and discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral commercial and trade relations between India and British Columbia, especially Surrey. CG emphasized the importance of of Western Canada, especially British Columbia in overall India- Canada bilateral trade and economic relationship. He shared his perspective to enhance cooperation. Ms. Huberman briefed on the role of Surrey Board, emergence of Surrey as the biggest city in BC and opportunities that exist in Surrey. She expressed her keen desire to revitalize trade relations with India and work closely with Consulate to reach out to Indian States, trade bodies and chambers.

Meeting with VISHWA and VYASA, Canada(May 7, 2021) 

Consul General Mr. Manish held a virtual meeting on 7 May, 2021 with founders of VISHWA and VYASA, Dr Swami Satya Prakash, Dr Preeti Yogashri Satyam, Devmayee Rina Kumar, Nirmala Tarangini Yogvagisha, Bhogeesha Eileen, Dr Aruna Thakur, Gary Sugrim and Deenanath. Consul General briefed them on the present COVID-19 situation in India and steps being taken by Government of India to deal with the situation. They expressed solidarity with India and offered to contribute to GoI’s effort. On the query from the community organizations, CG also explained the process of sending assistance to India and type of assistance required. The discussion also focused on partnering with the group on celebrating #IndiaAt75 to commemorate #AzadiKaAmritMahatosav in Vancouver. The group presented plan for celebrations of India@75 in month of June-July 2021 by partnering Consulate in organizing events related to #IDY2021 Yoga events, integrated system of healing, mediation, spiritual discourse, community work, developing a community garden, promoting Hindi & Sanskrit etc. Consulate in past has partnered with these organizations to organize #International Day of Yoga events.

Meeting with ICCA, Saskatoon (May 7, 2021)

Consul General Mr. Manish held a virtual meeting on 7 May, 2021 with India-Canada Cultural Association (ICCA) of Saskatoon. The meeting was attended by Mr. Laxmi Patel, President, Mr. Gautam Sharma, Vice President, Ms. Kiran Sharma, Secretary and Mr. Barada Mohanty, Social Secretary. Consul General briefed them on the present COVID-19 situation in India and steps being taken by Government of India to deal with the situation. ICCA expressed its solidarity with India and offered to contribute to GoI’s effort. On the query from them, CG explained the process of sending assistance to India and type of assistance required. CG also apprised them of the new changes in the Consular Services and also answered to their various queries. The discussion also focused on partnering with ICCA on celebrating #IndiaAt75 to commemorate #AzadiKaAmritMahatosav in Saskatoon.

Tirathgarh waterfalls, situated at a distance of 35 kms from Jagdalpur in the southwest direction can be approached through the state highway of Jagdalpur to Sukma. The waterfall is situated in Kanger Valley National Park and the height is approximately 300 ft in stages.
