Virtual Meeting with VATA (April 05, 2021)

Consul General Mr. Manish along with Consul Mr. Manjish Grover had a virtual interaction with Ramakrishna Vodnala (President) and Shubha Hemmige (Secretary) of Vancouver Area Telugu Association (VATA) on April 5, 2021. Mr. Vodnala gave an overview of VATA’s collaboration over the years with the Consulate in promoting Indian performing Arts and Culture in British Columbia. Consul General appreciated the efforts of VATA and its members. They also discussed how VATA and its Members can play an active roles the #IndiaAt75 – #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav celebrations to to commemorate 75 years of India's Independence.

Virtual Meeting with Hon. Bruce Ralston(April 07, 2021)
Consul General Manish had a virtual meeting with Hon. Bruce Ralston, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation and responsible for Consular Corps Relations, British Columbia. Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in energy and mining sectors. Consul General gave an overview of bilateral trade and investment relations between the countries and also discussed the importance of strengthening trade and investments between India & British Columbia.

Virtual Meeting with MSBC (April 07, 2021) 
As part of community outreach programme, Consul General Mr. Manish along with Consul Mr. H. Venkatachalam had a virtual interaction with Mr. Prashant Joshi (President), Mr. Swanand Kaluskar (Treasurer), Mr. Shailesh Arora (Director) and Ms. Pragati (Director) of the Marathi Society of BC (MSBC) on April 7, 2021. After an introduction of the community by Mr. Prashant Joshi, all the other members of the Marathi Society spoke on the occasion. They highlighted the role of the Society in BC. The Consul General acknowledged their proactive role in reaching out to the other Indians in General. The Society showed its willingness to interact with the Consulate and participate in cultural activities in connection with the 75th year of India’s independence. #IndiaAt75 – #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav

Virtual Meeting with Friends of India, BC (April 08, 2021)
Consul General Mr. Manish along with Consul Mr. H. Venkatachalam and Consul Mr. Manjish Grover had a virtual interaction with the members of Friends of India, BC. Consul General brief the current state of India – Canada bilateral relations, developments in India and changes in the Consular services. Consul General specifically discussed and requested their participation in #IndiaAt75 – #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav celebrations.

South Indian Food
From idlis (steamed rice cakes) to dosa (crepe-like pancakes), sambar (spicy lentil stew) to rasam (world’s oldest consommé), food of South India is a culture that has developed on the principle of Ayurveda. One of many firsts, steaming as a culinary technique evolved here, and that is how the steamed idlis and pithas (rice cakes) were conceived. In addition, it was here that deep frying technique was mastered and the first fried chicken dish made.
