Consul General Manish interacted with the members of BC- India Business Network and provided his insights on the developments in India in economic sphere & suggested ways to intensify economic engagement between BC & India. British Columbia & India bilateral trade amounts to 19% of total trade between our two countries.

 

Consul General Manish was the Chief Guest at the online book launch titled :”Dreaming The Countless World – An Epic Creation World” a poetry book written by Mr. Jeffrey Armstrong, Vedic Scholar and founder of Vedic Academic of Sciences and Arts (VASA). This book is an epic 888 lines of poetry written in an enthralling story-telling format. Speaking on the occasion, Consul General highlighted the contribution of Mr. Jeffrey Armstrong in promoting Indian ancient Vedic wisdom and philosophy in the West. Mr. Jeffrey Armstrong was conferred the Distinguished Indologist Award for 2021 by Indian Council for Cultural Relations.

Consulate General of India in Vancouver partnered with Heartfulness Vancouver to organize an event “ Music, Musings and Meditation“ aimed at promoting Indian culture through Indian classical music, spiritual journey and meditation. The book ‘Spiritual Anatomy’ by Mr. Kamlesh D. Patel also known as "Daaji" was also launched on the occasion. The event was attended by more than 300 people. Consul General attended the event as Chief Guest and participated in the book release and addressed the audience. He spoke on India’s rich cultural history and traditional knowledge and the inclusive values that were behind our global initiatives like ,Life,  launching International Solar Alliance, our vaccine Maitri initiative during Covid-19, our motto of G-20 Presidency etc.

 

Consulate General of India, Vancouver, collaborated with the Gujarati Society of BC, Bolly Fusion, and Lakshmi Narayan Temple to celebrate a historic moment – the recognition of Garba, Gujarat's traditional dance, by UNESCO! Garba is now part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. Let's rejoice in this cultural milestone together!

West Bengal
West Bengal is located in the eastern part of India on the Bay of Bengal, covering total area of 88,752 Kms. The state is surrounded by Sikkim and Bhutan in the north, Assam in the northeast, Bangladesh in the east, Bay of Bengal in the south, Odisha in the southwest, Jharkhand & Bihar in the west, and Nepal in the northwest. West Bengal has got heterogeneous geographical division with countless natural assets, stretching from Darjeeling Himalayan range of mountains in the north to the Gangetic Plain in the south, from quiet beaches across the coastal region to the world’s largest Delta which is also known for being the natural habitat of wild scarce species of Royal Bengal tigers at mangrove estuaries of Sundarbans, from green varied landscapes to vast historical events starting from ancient & classical period, medieval & early modern period, colonial period to independence and afterwards.

Finger Millet
Another significant staple grain in Eastern Africa and Asia is finger millet ,often known as ragi in India (India, Nepal). At the top of the stem, the plant has many spikes or "fingers." The grains are tiny (1-2 mm in diameter). Finger millet grains are rich in minerals, dietary fibre, polyphenols, and proteins. Finger millet, which is rich in calcium, plays an important role in growing children, pregnant women as well as people suffering from obesity, diabetes, and malnutrition. It contains high amount of potassium for the proper functioning of the kidneys and brains and allows the brain and muscles to work smoothly.

German firm TÜV SÜD invests 15 mn euros in lab test facility in Bengaluru

TÜV SÜD, a Germany-based safety and sustainability solutions provider, has invested 15 million euros (about Rs 134.8 crore) in its newly-built laboratory and testing facility in Bengaluru, driven by its expansion plans in India and a push towards the government’s ‘Make-in-India’ initiative. This is the company’s second lab facility in Bengaluru, after its Food Analytical, Chemical & Microbiology laboratory, inaugurated in 2005, in Peenya Industrial Estate. It has an existing network of over 39 offices and testing facilities at Bengaluru, Gurugram, Mumbai, Tiruppur, and Visakhapatnam.
