78TH INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDIA CELEBRATIONS

The 78th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the Consulate General of India in Vancouver. Consul General Masakui Rungsung hoisted the 'Tiranga' and delivered the Address of the Hon'ble President of India. The event was attended by esteemed members of the Indian Ex-Servicemen Society of British Columbia, prominent leaders of the Indian diaspora, and friends of India, who all came together to mark this momentous occasion.
 The celebrations were filled with patriotic spirit, reflecting the unity and diversity of India.

 

Consul General Masakui Rungsung attended the 78th Independence Day celebrations Indiyeah! Fest in Calgary, as Guest of Honour, organized by the vibrant Indian diaspora. He hoisted the 'Tiranga' alongside Indian veterans and addressed the gathering. The mega event saw over 7,000 people and 19 diverse cultural and diaspora groups coming together to showcase India's rich cultural heritage. Distinguished guests included MPs, MLAs, councillors, officials from the Alberta Province, and the Police Chief. The Premier of Alberta extended warm greetings on this occasion. In his address, Consul General Rungsung commended the Indian diaspora for their significant role in preserving and promoting India's cultural heritage.

The Consulate participated in the vibrant India Day celebrations, organized by V4U Entertainment, commemorating India's 78th Independence Day. The event united members of the Indian diaspora, fostering a sense of community and connection. Distinguished guests, including Hon. Raj Chouhan, Speaker of the BC Legislative Assembly, and Mike Hurley, Mayor of Burnaby, attended the programme, extending warm greetings on behalf of the British Columbia Government and the City of Burnaby, respectively. The evening was filled with a spectacular music and dance programme, showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of India.

 

Consul General visited the Vancouver Port and met with Mr. Peter Xotta, President and CEO of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. Mr. Xotta briefed Consul General about the operations of the port and the important role played in maintaining the supply chain between the two countries, especially in the field of agro sector and energy security. Consul General appreciated the role played by the port authority in enhancing trade relations between India and Canada.

Consul General visited the facility of Nanak Food in #Surrey and met with their management team. He took a tour of the facility and was shown the manufacturing process and was briefed about the various products. Consul General appreciated them for satiating the needs of Indian immigrants and continuing with the culinary expertise of India.

 

 

The Consulate General of India in Vancouver hosted an exhibition on 14 August 2024 to commemorate the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. Consul General Masakui Rungsung shed light on the partition's historical context and devastating impact. He said that we need to look back so that such things do not recur in the future.

The event, attended by all Consulate officials, served as a powerful tribute to the resilience of those who endured unimaginable hardships during this dark period in history.
