Journey - Guinness World Record for Largest Display of Lambani Items’

India's G20 Culture Working Group, led by the Ministry of Culture, set a Guinness World Record for the 'Largest Display of Lambani Items' in July 2023, showcasing 1755 items crafted by Lambani women artisans. This initiative, promoting Sandur Lambani embroidery, aligned with the CWG's focus on cultural industries and the 'Culture Unites All' campaign.

Celebrating unity, diversity, and sustainable practices, it echoed the ethos of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and supported women's economic independence while advocating for environmental consciousness through initiatives like Mission 'LiFe'.

Consul General Manish met with Dr. Pete Poovanna, Founder & Director of Forest Bean, to explore promoting Indian coffee from Coorg, Karnataka. Pete expressed gratitude for the Consulate General of India in Vancouver's support in promoting his Indian coffee brand.

On April 25, 2024, OHM BC officials met with Consul General Manish to discuss their cultural activities in British Columbia. Consul General praised their efforts in promoting Indian culture, especially from Kerala.

Consul General visited 'Plant Veda', a company led by young Indian diaspora members, specializing in plant-based dairy products like probiotic lassi, milk, creamer, and yogurt. Impressed by their work, Consul General was briefed about their activities and their interest in entering the Indian market.

 

Consul General visited the facility of ‘Big Mountain Foods’, which is a women-owned delta-based company that produce soy-free Tofu and other plant-based food products. Consul General was briefed about the activities of the companies. They have shown interest in exploring the Indian market. Consul General invited them to participate in the 'World Food India 2024' scheduled to be held in New Delhi from 19-22 September 2024.

Consul General Manish visited Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Surrey and offered prayers and met with Board members. During the interaction, CG conveyed his gratitude for the support extended by the temple management in organizing various cultural activities in partnership with the Consulate to promote the rich cultural heritage of India in BC.

Consul General Manish visited Shri Guru Ravidass Gurdwara in Burnaby and offered prayers and met with Board members and other pioneers who established the Gurudwara. During interaction CG conveyed his gratitude for the support extended by the Gurdwara management in organizing various cultural activities in partnership with Consulate to promote rich cultural heritage of India in BC. Members from Chetna Association & KDS Ross Street Gurdwara were present.

 

On the eve of International Dance Day, Consulate General of India in Vancouver partnered with Shiamak Vancouver to organize “Vancouver Celebrates Dance” at the plaza in front of Vancouver Art Gallery.

Consul General was pleased to meet the President and CEO of SBI Canada, Mr. Joseph Selvaraj, and welcomed the new President and CEO, Mr. Manish Mishra, during his first visit to Vancouver. He wished Mr. Mishra good luck for his tenure in Canada and appreciated Mr. Selvaraj for his services in Canada. They reviewed the operations of SBI Canada in Western Canada and discussed opportunities for the expansion of SBI Canada Bank.

Consul General Manish met with BC-India Business Network (BCIBN) members during a farewell lunch, expressing gratitude for their work on the India-BC economic corridor and their cooperation with the Consulate. He commended their efforts in organizing events to boost bilateral economic cooperation and offered suggestions for expanding BCIBN's activities, which were well received by the management team.

The Canada-India Business Council, led by Mr. Sukesh Kumar, Chair of the Board, and Mr. Victor Thomas, President & CEO, hosted a farewell dinner for Consul General Manish. The event was attended by prominent diaspora buisness & political leaders. The event was co-hosted by Indiaspora Executive Director Mr. Sanjeev Joshipura.

 

 


Consul General Manish was pleased to meet with Serge Corbeil and James Howey of the Air Canada team in Vancouver. He extended his appreciation for their instrumental role in advancing economic cooperation between India and Canada by intensifying air connectivity between the two nations.
