1st Global Tourism Investors Summit

The main objective of the Investors’ Tourism Summit is to promote the Indian travel and tourism industry as an ‘Investment Destination’ and provide a common platform for the Central/State governments and the investors to discuss investment possibilities in the tourism industry of India.The Summit will allow both domestic as well as foreign potential investors to identify state-specific investment possibilities in the segment unique to that state. The States can also simultaneously showcase their strengths to the international investors in a bid to invite investments for sprucing up their tourism infrastructure.

Indian economy looking good because of focus on infrastructure

The Indian economy is looking good despite global headwinds because of the focus on infrastructure, Tata Steel managing director TV Narendran has said.
“Globally there is some concern because of the fragility of some of the economies but I think the Indian economy is looking good because of the focus on infrastructure," Narendran told CNBC TV-18 on the sidelines of the Indian All India Management Association Awards.Narendran also sort to draw a link between steel consumption and gross domestic product (GDP) growth. "Steel consumption in my view should reflect the GDP growth rate, so if the GDP is going to grow at six-and-a-half -seven percent, I expect steel consumption to grow at least that rate," the Tata Steel MD said.

The tourism industry has shown good signs of revival after the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism said.According to the government's provisional estimates, the foreign exchange earnings from tourism in the country increased by 107% from ₹65,070 crore in 2021 to ₹1,34,543 crore in 2022.

New York museum announced to return 15 stolen antiquities to India

As per the latest development, the New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced that it will be returning 15 Indian sculptures after it learned that the items were trafficked. As per the press release from the museum, it stated that all the works were sold by Subhash Kapoor, a convicted Indian-American antiquities smuggler, and that Kapoor was arrested by Interpol in Germany in 2011 and is currently imprisoned in India.

US gives thumbs up to Indian aviation safety oversight as FAA retains DGCA's IASA category 1 status

In a big boost to Indian carriers' ambitious global network expansion plans, the US Federal Aviation Administration has retained the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) top notch safety oversight ranking. The FAA on Wednesday informed DGCA that India meets the international standards for aviation safety oversight of the Chicago Convention "and continues to retain FAA International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) Category 1 status which was last assessed in July 2018," said a senior regulatory officer.

Indian-American mathematician C R Rao awarded International Prize in Statistics at 102

Indian-American mathematician Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao will receive the 2023 International Prize in Statistics, known to be the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in the field of statistics. C R Rao has been awarded the top prize for his monumental work 75 years ago that revolutionised statistical thinking.
