MISSION DIVYASTRA - INDIA'S AGNI-5 MISSILE

Mission Divyastra: India's highly-accurate AGNI-5 Missile with MIRV tech ready to deter enemies
India tested Mission Divyastra, the first flight test of indigenously developed Agni-5 missile on March 11. The missile is now equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology. On the achievement, PM Modi praised the DRDO scientists for their successful execution of Mission Divyastra. The successful test flight of the Agni-5 missile with MIRV technology signifies a significant milestone in bolstering the country's defense. With the test of Mission Divyastra, India has joined the select group of nations that have MIRV capability. The system is equipped with indigenous Avionics systems and high-accuracy sensor packages. The system ensured that the re-entry vehicles reached the target points within the desired accuracy

HIGH COMMISSIONER VISIT TO ALBERTA

Meeting with the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta

High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General Manish called on The Hon. Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, in Edmonton on 11 March 2024. During the meeting, they had a very friendly and pleasant exchange of views on various themes of mutual bilateral interest.

Meeting with the Premier of Alberta

High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General Manish called on Hon. Danielle Smith, Premier of Alberta, in Edmonton on March 12, 2024. They had warm & friendly discussions on enhancing India-Alberta relations in diverse economic fields, including energy, agriculture, innovation, startups & education.

 

Meeting with the Mayor of Edmonton

His Worship Amarjeet Sohi, Mayor of the City of Edmonton, Alberta, received High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General Manish in his office on 11 March 2024. During the meeting, they had a discussion on further intensifying India's engagement with Edmonton in the economic, energy and education sectors.

 

Meetings with Alberta Government Ministers



High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General Manish had productive bilateral meetings on 11 March 2024 in Edmonton with Alberta Government Ministers Hon. Adriana LaGrange, Minister of Health, Hon. Nathan Cooper, Speaker of the Alberta Legislative Assembly, Hon. Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advance Education, and Hon. Brian Jean, Minister of Energy & Minerals. During the meetings, they reviewed India-Alberta relations and discussed ways forward in new areas.

 

Interactive session organized by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC)

High Commissioner Shri Sanjay Kumar Verma addressed a gathering of business & industry leaders, and other dignitaries at an interactive session organized by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), Alberta Chapter on March 11, 2024, in Edmonton. High Commissioner emphasized the vast array of business prospects in #NewIndia, highlighting the dynamic potential for collaboration. He commended Mr. Ravi Prakash Singh, Chair of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), Alberta Chapter, and his team for the successful event. He invited the ICCC Alberta Chapter to lead a business delegation from Alberta to India.

Consul General Manish, in his remarks, shared the current state of India-Alberta business and Economic Engagement and highlighted the way forward for further strengthening economic engagement. Additionally, in the presence of High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma, Consul General presented a certificate of appreciation to the Chair and Vice Chair of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, Alberta, acknowledging their contributions in promoting and facilitating business and trade ties between India and Alberta.

 

Chalo India Campaign at ICCC Event in Edmonton

 

Consul General Manish highlighted the Chalo India Global Campaign launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event organized by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), Alberta Chapter in Edmonton on March 11, 2024.

Consul General Manish invited the diaspora and friends of India to become #incredibleindia ambassadors and invite five foreign friends to explore our diverse culture, vibrant heritage, and breathtaking landscapes every year. About 200 guests attended the event.

Engagement with University of Alberta

High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General Manish met with Mr. Bill Flanagan, President, of the University of Alberta, and his team in Edmonton on 12 March 2024. Their discussions were focused on enhancing engagement, especially in R&D, and tech cooperation. The High Commissioner also took a tour of the labs and interacted with Indian students.

 

Meeting with the Edmonton International Airport Management Team 



High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma along with Consul General Manish visited Edmonton International Airport during their visit to Edmonton and met with the Executive Management team & Board member Angelina Bakshi. Discussion focussed on cooperation in cargo services & other commercial opportunities in Edmonton International Airport.

High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma interacted with the business leaders in Edmonton at an event hosted by Rohit Group and Edmonton Global. The discussion focussed on enhancing India - Alberta economic engagement in the diverse fields of interest.

Consul General Manish was honored to participate in an official briefing by British Columbia Government Ministers organized by Hon. Brule Ralston, Minister Responsible for the Consular Corps of BC. On the sidelines, Consul General met with Hon. David Eby, Premier of British Columbia. Consul General also delivered remarks at the briefing and conveyed appreciation for giving policy perspectives.

India produces 97% of its total mobile phone demand locally: ICEA

Mobile phone manufacturing in value terms jumped 21-fold to ₹4.1 lakh crore in India in the last 10 years as government policy measures like the PLI scheme played a critical role in attracting global players to boost local production, industry body India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) said in a statement.
