Consul General Manish participated in the Roots and Forward Food Conference organized at Simon Fraser University. During the Conference, Consul General Manish delivered a comprehensive presentation and shared insights and successes from India’s prominent role in the UN-designated International Year of Millets 2023, highlighting India's deep connection with millets, their health benefits, the key messages of #IYM2023, and how they contribute to fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals. He also emphasized India's position as a “Global Hub for Millets” and presented seven strategies to boost the production and consumption of millets, underscoring their importance for food security and sustainable development. An informative exhibition highlighting the health benefits of Millets was also displayed at the venue.

 

 

During the Roots and Forward Food Conference at Simon Fraser University, an exhibition, and standees highlighting various types of millets grown in India and their health benefits were presented in the SFU Dining Commons. SFU Dining Commons Chief Chef Rajeev Arora and his team set up a display table with various millets and offered recipes made from them to promote their nutritional and environmental benefits to university students and other community members using the dining facility.

Consul General Manish met with Professor Elicia Maine, Associate Vice-President of Knowledge Mobilization and Innovation, and her team at Simon Fraser University. They discussed the upcoming Hydrogen Hub, research taking place in SFU in the field of Green Hydrogen, and potential collaboration opportunities with India. Consul General made a presentation on India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, targeting the production of 5 million metric tons (MMT) of green hydrogen by 2030 and promoting clean energy for a sustainable future. He discussed potential research and development collaborations, highlighting the growing opportunities in this sector.

India is the fastest growing economy - IMF

India is ‘easily’ the fastest growing economy in the world, IMF executive director Krishnamurthy Subramanian said, as the country’s third quarter GDP growth blew past analysts’ estimates. PSLV's POEM-3 accomplishes zero orbital debris mission, re-enters earth atmosphere

Indian pharma companies to post revenue growth of 8-10% in FY2025; US & Europe growth momentum to moderate, says ICRA

Indian pharmaceutical companies’ revenues are expected to grow by 8-10 per cent in FY2025, posting a YoY increase of 13-14 per cent in FY2024, said a report by ICRA. ICRA studied its sample set of 25 Indian pharmaceutical companies, which account for ~60 per cent of the overall Indian pharmaceutical industry to report the findings.
