CONSULATE NEWS

At an interactive session with Indian students at Simon Fraser University, Consul General Masakui Rungsung warmly welcomed them and had a friendly interaction with them. During the session, Consul General briefed them on basic awareness in Canada on their first arrival that included their safety, welfare, health issues, local laws, etc. The interaction with followed by a Q&A session.

Consul General Masakui Rungsung interacted with members of the vibrant Indian diaspora in Kamloops on 22 October 2024. The group, representing various fields, shared their experiences preserving and promoting Indian culture and welfare programs for the community.  The meeting fostered a spirit of collaboration, reinforcing the strong bonds between the Consulate and the Indian diaspora in Canada.

 

Consul General Masakui Rungsung offered his prayers at Sikh Cultural Society Gurdwara at Kamploops on 23 October 2024. CG was warmly welcomed by committee members who informed CG about the activities of the Gurdwara. CG acknowledged and appreciated the contribution of the Gurdwara in cultural, religious, and community work, and assured continued support of the Consulate.


Consul General met with Hon. Peter Milobar, MLA, and business leaders in an event hosted by Mr. Ron Mundi, President & CEO, Mundi Hotels, during his visit to Kamloops. They discussed about trade and business opportunities, role and contribution of Indian diaspora in development and prosperity of Kamloops and welfare measures by them for Indian community and students.

 

During his visit to Kamloops, Consul General Masakui Rungsung engaged with alumni and students at Thompson Rivers University. He provided valuable insights on important topics for newcomers to Canada, including safety, welfare, health concerns, local laws, and the range of consular services offered by the Consulate. The interactions were concluded with interactive Q&A.

Vehicle exports from India rise 14% in H1 FY2025, SUVs, 2-wheelers and CVs drive revival

There’s good news for the Indian automobile industry from the export perspective. Demand for made-in-India vehicles has risen by 14% year on year in the April-September 2024 period to 25,28,248 units (H1 FY2024: 22,11,457 units). In FY2024, exports had witnessed a 5.5% YoY decline at 45,00,492 units with three of the four vehicle segments down – PVs (672,105 units, up 1.4%), two-wheelers (34,58,416 units, -5.3%), three-wheelers (2,99,977 units, -17.9%) and commercial vehicles (65,816 units, -16.3%) as a result of the monetary crisis in key export markets last fiscal......

India has pushed for global standards on digital public infrastructure and artificial intelligence (AI) technology at the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) 2024, which concluded on Thursday. India’s aviation sector poised for expansion: Airlines may need 4,000 more planes, govt to develop additional 200 airports, says Naidu

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Thursday (October 24) said that the country may require an additional 4,000 aircraft over the next two decades while highlighting the immense growth potential of India’s civil aviation sector. The aviation minister also stated that around 200 new airports are anticipated to be developed within this timeframe.  Currently, Indian airlines operate about 800 planes, with over 1,200 aircraft on order.
