Consul General R. Masakui visited the Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Surrey on 9 June 2024 and was felicitated by the Board Members of the Temple. Temple Board Members briefed the CG on the activities of the Temple and cooperation between the Consulate and the Temple. CG addressed the members of the Indian diaspora present on the occasion. As a part of World Environment Day, CG planted some trees on the premises of the temple.

Amitabh Ranjan, Consul(Com) inaugurated the India Pavilion at the Global Energy Show, in Calgary, Alberta. 24 Indian companies under the banner of the Indian Chamber of Commerce participated in the show. Consul(Com) visited the stalls of Indian companies and enquired about their products. The Global Energy Show is North America’s one of the largest B2B exhibitions and conferences in the field of energy with the participation of more than 600+ companies. On the sidelines of his visit, he also met Hon’ble Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advance Education of the Government of Alberta.

A Yoga event for a small group of young techies was organized by Consulate General of India on June 8, 2024, in association with Ms. Preeti Mokaria and Mr Natarajan Sundaram, who are certified Isha Hatha yoga teachers trained by the Isha Foundation. The Consulate utilized the opportunity to extend invitations to all the participants to attend the main IDY with family and friends and also encourage others to attend. Consul General was pleased to meet CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice President, Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI) in his office. Mr. Nanda was accompanied by office bearers of the ICAI-British Columbia Chapter. Discussion was focussed on possibilities of how businesses from both India and Canada be supported.
Representatives of the ICAI-BC chapter briefed Consul General about their activities and support provided to new members in BC. They also briefed CG on the role of ICAI in taxation, consultancy, combating money laundry and advisory role to Govt. of India.
