The Namaste Canada 2023 event held on September 2, 2023, at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey, organized by Consulate General of India, Vancouver.

There were 38 Indian Cultural Groups came across the Lower Mainland 510 Artists - Dancers, Choreographers, Singers, Composers, Musicians, 1 Incredible Event Celebrating India’s Diverse Cultural Heritage.

During the Namaste Canada event held on September 2, 2023, at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver hosted an informative exhibition highlighting the health benefits and practicality of incorporating millets into our daily lives. The display featured various standees and an exhibition dedicated to millets. The event attracted an audience of over 2,000 attendees. The Government of India, in collaboration with the Food and Agricultural Organization, is currently commemorating the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets. To promote the One District One Product initiative of the Government of India, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver established an ODOP corner as part of the Namaste Canada event. The ODOP Initiative is aimed at fostering balanced regional development throughout India's districts, with the overarching goal of driving comprehensive socioeconomic growth across all regions. This initiative strives to transform each district into a manufacturing and export hub by identifying and promoting products with export potential unique to that particular district. The event attracted an audience of over 2,000, attendees had the opportunity to explore ODOP standees and a map that showcased a diverse range of products originating from various districts across India, highlighting the rich and varied manufacturing potential found within the country.

At the Namaste Canada event on September 2, 2023, hosted at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver actively promoted the incredibleindia campaign. This endeavor encompassed the screening of tourism videos from several Indian states such as Kerala, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and others, which were thoughtfully integrated into the cultural performances. Furthermore, the Consulate also featured a diverse array of standees showcasing India's captivating tourist destinations and the various facets of tourism available in India, including wellness, adventure, and luxurious experiences. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout of more than 2,000 attendees, all of whom actively participated in engaging with the exhibit and had the opportunity to discover the exceptional tourism prospects that India has to offer.

National Sports Week
Consulate General of India, Vancouver organized National Sports Week from 22-29 August 2023 as a part of fit india and khelo india campaigns. The event is organized every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The celebrations was launched by Consul General Manish with all the officials of the Consulate participating in an outdoor walking competition. On the National Sports Day on 29 August, doubles table tennis competition was held. The events were conducted on a team basis to instill team spirit and coordination among the staff.

Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. Steep paths lead to hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse, which dates to the early 1700s.
Cuddled affectionately by the majestic Himalayas, Sikkim lies in the North Eastern part of India. The state is known for uncountable tiny monasteries which add vivid colours to its outlook. The lifestyle of locals here is simple and showcases the deep roots of their cultures and beliefs.They are big hearted and have a beautiful smile adorning their distinct features. Sikkim is blanketed with a maze of steeping, super-steep valleys, lush woodlands and rich groves.

Little Millet
Little Millet (Panicum miliare) is one among the minor millets grown to a limited extent all over India up to altitudes of 2100 m. It is a relative of Proso Millet but the seeds of little millet are much smaller than Proso Millet with their low carbohydrate content, slow digestibility and low water-soluble gum content, The complex carbohydrates, phenolic compounds, antioxidant content present in them helps to prevent metabolic disorders like diabetes, cancer, obesity etc.
