Shantikanta Das, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on Monday (March 4) said they have seen 90-fold increase in retail digital payments over the last 12 years."Retail digital payments have grown from 162 crore transactions in FY13 to over 14,726 crore transactions in FY24 (till February 2024)," he said.

Scientists Develop Eco-Friendly Wound Dressing With Banana Fibers
A team of scientists at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology in Assam have developed an eco-friendly and low-cost wound dressing material using banana fibers. The researchers led by Prof. Devasish Chowdhury and Prof. (Retd) Rajlakshmi Devi used banana pseudostems, which get discarded in abundance post-harvest. They ingeniously combined the banana fibers with biopolymers like chitosan and guar gum to create a multifunctional patch with excellent mechanical strength and antioxidant properties.

Researchers from IIT Guwahati develop low-cost motion sensor for healthcare applications
Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology in Guwahati have developed a low cost organohydrogel sensor that can register motion signals. Such a sensor can be used to monitor subtle movements of patients over an extended period, through a wireless device and a smartphone application. Stretchable wearable sensors are used to monitor small movements in patients who are comatose or in similar conditions. Current gel based technologies are limited when it comes to mechanical properties, lacking ultra-stretchability and self-healing properties. These are the gaps in conventional technologies that the researchers attempted to address.

'Make For The World': Saab Starts Construction Of New Carl-Gustaf Factory In Haryana
It's not just Make in India, but also, Make for the World. Work on a Saab factory to make the Carl-Gustaf M4, shoulder-fired weapon began today in Jhajjar, Haryana. It has 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment or FDI and even the firm, Saab FFVO India Pvt. Ltd, is registered here. Earlier versions of the Carl Gustaf have been with the Indian Army's infantrymen and special forces for decades. It was used during the 1999 war in Kargil, for example. The M3 is in regular use; the Army has limited quantities of the M4. Now, it will be made in India, for the Indian Army, and if possible, exported back to Sweden to be sold elsewhere.
