 Consul General Mr. Manish visited Richmond City Hall  and met Mayor Malcolm Brodie on April 5, 2022. Both sides exchanged ideas for deepening economic & cultural engagement and partnering in diaspora led events. Richmond is home to a growing Indian community.

In a bid to help visually impaired people, a young boy from Assam's Karimganj district has designed a sensor- enabled smart shoe. Ankurit Karmakar, a 9th standard student from Rowland's Memorial High School in the Karimganj district has designed the smart shoe that allows visually impaired people to stay safe from obstacles that come along their way while walking.

IIT Guwahati develops technology to standardise electric vehicles for Indian drive cycle

Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, have developed a one-of-its-kind technology that rates the motors and batteries of Electric Vehicles (EVs) based on Indian drive cycles. According to officials, the Electric Vehicles currently available in the market do not take into account the different climatic conditions in India, and the drive cycles developed are not focused on rural and urban drive cycles. A drive cycle is typically represented by a series of data points that plots vehicle speed against time. Driving cycles are produced to assess the performance of vehicles in various ways, including fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.

India Provides 36,000MT Petrol, 40,000MT Diesel To Sri Lanka; Overall Supply At 2,70,000MT 

As part of the credit line that India has offered to Sri Lanka, as of Wednesday, a total of 2,70,000 metric tonnes of fuel has so far been delivered to the island nation to assuage the unprecedented power crises and economic uncertainties. This is after the dispatch of a consignment of 36,000 MT petrol and 40,000 MT diesel in the past 24 hours. The consignment is a part of the US 500 million oil line of credit extended by India to Sri Lanka.
