Seminar on "Lowering the Burden of Chronic Disease Through Integrative Thinking" organised by CINS (June 18, 2021)

Consulate Genera of India partnered with Canada India Network Society (CINS) in a IDY 2021 curtain raiser event titled “Lowering the Burden of Chronic Disease Through Integrative Thinking”. The three day seminar held virtually from 18 - 20 June, 2021 brought together many expert speakers in the filed of integrative medicine, oncology, naturopathy, yoga etc.. The seminar was opened with welcome remarks by Mr. Manish, Consul General of India in Vancouver who lauded the members of CINS, especially the founder President Dr. Arun Garg for organizing this insightful event. High Commissioner of India Mr. Ajay Bisaria delivered his opening address from Ottawa in which he highlighted the importance of yoga and integrative medicine approach especially during these challenging times of the pandemic. Other notable speakers included Hon’ble Minister Adrian Dix (Minister of Health, BC ) and Padmashri Dr. H.R Nagendra, Chancellor of S-VYASA, who deliberated on yoga's contribution in alleviation of Covid-19 and how yoga can be an important part of the process of integrative thinking in lowering chronic diseases.

Celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga 2021 in partnership with HappYness Wellness Yoga (June 20, 2021)

Consulate General of India, Vancouver partnered with HappYness Wellness Yoga and BC Super Kings Sports Club, Vancouver to mark the 7th International Day of Yoga 2021- Yoga for Wellness. A yoga demonstration event was organized at the Newton Athletic Park in the City of Surrey where Consul General Mr Manish and Consul Mr. Manjish Grover participated along with other yoga enthusiasts. Yoga guru Ms. Tarana Kaur of Happiness Wellness Yoga conducted the common yoga protocol with groups of 15 participants each in keeping with the city’s Covid-19 protocols. Consul General Mr Manish later addresses the gathering and highlighted the importance of yoga in an overall wellness regime which has become even more important during the pandemic.

Celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga 2021 in partnership with ICA Vancouver  (June 20, 2021)

Consulate General of India, Vancouver partnered with ICA Vancouver - India Cultural Association, BC to mark the 7th International Day of Yoga 2021- Yoga for Wellness. A yoga demonstration event was organized in the virtual /online mode where Consul General Mr Manish and Consul Mr. Manjish Grover participated along with other yoga enthusiasts. Certified Yoga instructor Mr. Neeraj Kumar and Yoga Teacher Ajinkya Pinto of ICA conducted event. Yoga demonstration was done according to the common yoga protocol and the event was streamed live on Facebook with many yoga lovers joining from home. The event followed this year’s IDY theme "Yoga for Wellness". Consul General Mr Manish in his remarks highlighted the importance of yoga for a holistic approach to wellness especially during these challenging times of the pandemic.

Celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga 2021 in partnership with Hindu Temple Burnaby(June 21, 2021)

The Consulate in partnership with Hindu Temple Burnaby, BC, Canada, celebrated the 7th International Day of Yoga-2021 with the theme 'Yoga for Wellness' in-person on 21 June, 2021 at Temple premises. The Yoga Asanas, as per Common Yoga Protocol, were performed complying with local Covid-19 Protocol. Mr. Raj Chouhan, Speaker of Legislative Assembly of BC; Mr. Mike Hurley, Mayor, City of Burnaby; Mr. Sav Dhaliwal, Councillor, City of Burnaby, British Columbia and Consul General Mr. Manish attended the event. Padma Shri Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Chancellor, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VAYSA), Bengaluru also virtually joined the event and shared his useful insights on the holistic approach of Yoga in treatment of hypertension, stress, anxiety, diabetes, Covid-19 etc. The speech of Honouorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi delivered on the occasion of 7th IDY 2021 was also played during the event. Dr. Preeti Misra, Secretary & Yoga Practitioner, Hindu Temple Burnaby, conducted the Common Yoga Protocol with maximum 50 participants in compliance with the local Covid-19 protocols. President of Hindu Temple Burnaby Mr. Rakesh Dhir thanked the Consulate for partnering with the Temple in organizing the celebration of IDY 2021.

CG Manish pays homage at the Air India Memorial at Stanley Park, Vancouver (June 23, 2021)

36 years ago on 23rd June, 1985, 329 innocent people including 268 Canadians and 24 Indian, and among whom 86 were children, lost their lives in to the dastardly bombing of Air India flight 182. Consul General Mr. Manish joined prominent members of the community and some family members of the victims who lost their live to pay homage at the Air India Memorial at Stanley Park, Vancouver. Consul General Mr. Manish laid a wreath at the memorial and joined in the prayer meeting that was performed in remembrance. Others at the memorial included former MLA Mr. Dave S. Hayer, Hon. George Chow, Minister of State for Trade, BC, Granthis from KDS Ross Street Gurdwara and family members of some of the victims.

Virtual Meeting with Lt Governor of Alberta (June 24, 2021)

Consul General Manish had a virtual meeting with Her Honour, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lt Governor of Alberta on 24 June 2021. Both sides discussed various aspects of bilateral relations between India and Alberta, including enhancing trade & economic relation and people to people contact. They also noted the ongoing cooperation between India and Alberta in the fields of energy, agriculture, education and IT.

Virtual Meeting with Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Alberta (June 25, 2021)

Consul General Manish had a virtual meeting with Honourable Nathan Cooper, Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Alberta on 25 June 2021. Both sides had a wide ranging discussion on various aspects of bilateral relations between India and Alberta. CG thanked for the support extended by Government of Alberta for commemorating 75th anniversary of India's Independence #IndiaAt75 and the Ministerial statement made by Minister Panda at Legislative Assembly of Alberta on 7 June 2021 on the 75th anniversary of India's Independence.

India's total FDI inflow rises 38% in April, says Centre

India recorded a 38 per cent rise in its foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, data released by government showed on Wednesday.Total FDI inflows stood at $6.24 billion in April this year as compared a total of $4.53 billion during the same period last year.
